Did you post it to the list, or is it just on SignPuddle??? If you tried to attach it, I didn't get it...KJDate: Thu, 2 Aug 2007 21:16:25 -0700From: adam at frostvillage.comTo: sw-l at majordomo.valenciacc.eduSubject: Re: [sw-l] FLASH-THE-LIGHTI just wrote my idea. I know that for Stuart's perposes that there needs to be a down-up movement, but I was wondering how to write it if there wasn't any such movements. You answered it before I could play a little with the idea. :-)

I got Stuart's original message, but I couldn't see your message in the reply, Val; it came as attachments not in the body of the email! The only attachment that I could see in the actual email was your suggested rewrite. Usually it's the other way around; text comes through and the picture doesn't... but when Stuart wrote his response back, I could see all the text. Computer glitch (I've been having a lot of those!), Hotmail issue, or something to do with the new server? Any ideas? (Personally, I suspect some sort of weird interaction between my computer and the new server...)
KJP.S. I know the sign Stuart's talking about, and although I would put the hand closer to the head, I would use the down-up arrows. Using arrows that only go in one direction makes me think the light ends up staying on, when the sign intends it to be off at the end. Three flashes would end up being a bit clunky, though... although repeated quick flashes are a slightly different movement and you might be able to use the hinge movement instead. See attached - what do you think? The only problem is that this writing makes it look like the fingers never come apart, which is where Stuart's writing is more accurate. I guess it's really a balance - accuracy vs. simplicity!
